Cavalla International University offers 27 doctoral degrees programs and more than 30 concentrations. The university also has customized degree programs available for students seeking to specialize in programs that are out of the primary doctoral programs at the university.

The Doctor of Philosophy Degree is the most advanced qualification that a university can award to a graduate student. Graduates of the doctoral programs are prepared to be industry leaders and ready to contribute to the academic community professionally by means of teaching, training, scholarly research work, and in many other professional ways. The program provides in-depth skills, knowledge, up-to-date knowledge of current practices, and effective research skills. The theoretical skills, practical skills, and research skills acquired by the students prepared them to be well-grounded and well-rounded for their professions. All doctoral programs at CIU are research-based, which helps graduates to develop high-level research skills comparable to other universities around the world.

All Doctor of Philosophy Degree programs at Cavalla International University require 75 credit hours for completion. The program is a research-focused program guided by faculty advisors.

Note: Students enrolled in Accelerated semesters option can complete their degree in 2 – 3 years by enrolling in 4 academic semesters during the year (Year 1 and year 2 academic requirements can be completed in 1 year – see structure below). Students enrolled in the standard semesters option can complete their degree in 3 – 4 years or more but not more than 6 years.

Note: Most students in the accelerated semesters option complete the doctoral program in 2 ½ years.

This program provides variety of interdisciplinary degree options for students. Students have the options to enroll in any degree programs related to humanities, Social Sciences and the Natural Sciences. That means students of this program have the option to design and enroll in a degree program that fit their career goals, in collaboration with the students’ faculty.  Students have the option to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy degree, Doctor of Psychology degree and, or a Doctor of Science degree. The Doctor of Philosophy degree is a research-based program. while the Doctor of Psychology and Doctor of Sciences degrees are both capstone programs.

The doctoral program provides students with the opportunity to conduct advanced independent research under the supervision of a faculty advisor

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD/ePhD) degree is conferred by the School of Graduate Studies of Cavalla International University in recognition of the candidates’ competence and their ability to investigate computer systems problems, and engineering problems independently, resulting in a new contribution to knowledge in their respective fields of study. The work for the degree consists of engineering research, the preparation of a doctoral dissertation based on that research, and a program of advanced study in Computer Science, computer engineering, electrical engineering and other available engineering programs. The student’s work is directed by the department, subject to the general supervision of the School of Graduate Studies.

The program offers high quality and research-intensive education in Computer Science and Engineering leading to a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or another Engineering program. PhD students conduct research projects in a variety of areas. A dissertation or a doctoral capstone and oral defense are required for completion. However, students have the option to select a non – dissertation or doctoral capstone option to obtain an Executive Doctor of Philosophy Degree (ePhD), which requires candidates to conduct specialized research and to take an exam.
